Qualified Integrative Counsellor using Psychosynthesis Therapy - including Basic CBT

I am a counsellor living in WOKING. The clients I see can span a wide area in Surrey, within and outside of Guildford and Weybridge, as long as you are prepared to see me in Woking. I am within easy walking distance from Woking Town Centre and the train station. If driving, I try to make a space in my drive for parking a car. If needing to park on the road, I HAVE PARKING TICKETS.

In this day and age, it can seem a very lonely place when we experience difficulties. Sometimes we do not have anyone we can share this with. There are a lot of people that feel they "should" be able to sort their problems out themselves, or they don't want to burden others. However, it is not always easy and sharing your problems with someone can be a relief.

Although relatives and friends may be willing to talk with you about problems, sometimes we don't want to bother them, or we may feel that they may be biased in some way. So talking to relatives or those closest to us is not always an option. Seeing a counsellor who can be more objective can be helpful.

Going to see a counsellor, can be a bit daunting sometimes, as you do not always know what to expect. A good counsellor will welcome you, put you at ease and suspend any judgement. They will also accept you unconditionally, no matter what the problem. It is not my job as a counsellor to judge you. It is my job to hear and accept you in the place you are in.....right at this moment....and help you to find your own solutions.

We all deserve to be listened to. We all have value and deserve encouragement and understanding. I treat all my clients with the unconditional regard we all deserve. So whatever the problem, I will listen and offer my skills to help you.

My name is Gillian Moody and I have a Private Practice and have been counselling for 14yrs. I see clients from my home in Woking in a private room. I am committed to providing counselling in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment.

I work with individuals, face to face on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period, with the aim of enabling you to enhance your life and to live it more fully. Of course you are proactive in this process. I sometimes use drawing, imagery and suggest journal writing throughout your process. Sometimes when we see something in front of us, it can make more sense than just talking, although talking is an important part of counselling as well as the need for honesty. It is my job to help both of us build a trusting relationship, one where you feel comfortable to tell me anything.

I am what is known as an “integrative counsellor” which means that I use several approaches to counselling.
Psychosynthesis Counselling which has 3 models, psychodynamic, humanistic and transpersonal. I also use Basic CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) if needed.

Psychosynthesis Counselling incorporates a wholistic approach and acknowledges every individuals unique experience.
it includes body, mind and feelings, seeing these three components as naturally interactive and affecting each other.
Psychosynthesis also includes not only aspects of personality but of our soul growth as well, asking questions such as "What gives a sense of meaning and purpose to your life?" " What are the possibilities and potential in our lives?"
"What does it mean to you to grow as an individual?" These are important aspects to hold as well as our difficulties.

Some of the things we can experience on our journey in life are:

....Feeling empty and that something is missing in our lives.
....Not knowing how to or not allowing yourself to work through a loss.
....Feeling afraid, anxious, depressed and stuck?
....Relationship difficulties.
....Feeling angry with those closest to you or maybe not understanding why you feel angry.
....Not having dealt with past issues or the past still affecting the present.

As my main counselling model is Psychosynthesis, I prefer to be a counsellor that explores all areas of your life, which can include childhood patterns, as well as what may be happening now.

I have some secondary training in Basic Cognitive Behavioural Counselling - CBT, which I could use along with my main model of counselling, Psychosynthesis if called for. CBT examines our behaviour and our thoughts and can be very effective with Depression, Anxiety, Panic Disorders etc.

I am also open to seeing clients for long term or short term counselling, but always checking with clients every month or so to see how they are feeling about the counselling process.

Coming to see a counsellor for the first time can be daunting. Sometimes it is easier to see someone who is not emotionally involved, like family, girlfriend or a boyfriend may be. I realise that it can be hard to make that first move but I will do everything I can to put you at ease.
Many people have come to me for counselling for a variety of reasons. I want to re-assure you that no problem is too embarrassing or too difficult for me to listen to. I am not here to judge either, so another page on this website is about some of the Services I provide. They are by no means all. I also give a little information about the work I have done as a counsellor. I usually work with adults, age range from 18yrs upwards.

Of course anyone coming for counselling wants to know they are coming to see a qualified person, so you can read my Qualifications in Psychology, Psychosynthesis and CBT on this website too. I am also a member of the BACP.

I work from my home in Woking and it is easily accessible to get to whether you are coming from Guildford, Weybridge or further a field in Surrey. (Please see Multimap on the Contacts Page.)
